Pearl wedding jewellery, what is the history behind the tradition?
Pearls in
bridal jewellery are are said to symbolise purity and innocence. They
are also said to 'take away the brides tears' ensuring she had a happy
and tear-free wedded life.
Traditionally pearls are given to the
bride either as a gift from her father or the groom, sometimes having
been handed down through the generations.
Today many brides today
also give their bridesmaids gifts of pearl pendants, earrings or
bracelets and so the association and tradition of pearls and weddings
